Clinical Services

SERVICES OFFERED BY THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Clinical Studies hosts the Veterinary Teaching and Referral Hospital, which is divided into Large Animal Clinic and Small Animal Clinic. It also has Diagnostic Section.

 

  1. Small Animal Clinic offers general as well as specialized services for dogs, Cats and other pet/small animals, which cover:
  • Medical diagnoses and treatment.
  • Surgical diagnoses and operations.
  • Reproductive, Gynaecological, Obstetrical diagnoses and management.
  • Routine Vaccinations and deworming.
  • Both Out-Patient and In-Patient Services.
  • Routine Grooming.
  • Breeding advice.
  • Feeding and nutrition advice.
  • Animal welfare management advice.
  • Kennel boarding facilities for dogs and cats.

  1. Large Animal Clinic offers general as well as specialized services for production animals such as cattle, pigs, sheep, goats as well as equine such as horses and donkeys; and any other large animals. The services include:
  • Medical diagnoses and treatment.
  • Surgical diagnoses and operations.
  • Reproductive, Gynaecological, Obstetrical diagnoses, Pregnancy diagnosis and
  • management.
  • Both Out-Patient and In-Patient Services.
  • Ambulatory and Herd-Health Clinic within the farms for reported cases.
  • Feeding and Nutrition advice.
  • Animal welfare management advice.
  • Routine deworming, worm control and external parasite (e.g. ticks, fleas etc)
  • management advice.
  • Health examination for purchase of production animals.

  1. Diagnostic  and other Services include:
  • Digital X-ray imaging.
  • Ultrasound imaging.
  • Laboratory diagnosis- hematology, biochemistry and bacteriology.
  • ELISA mainly for research.
  • Expert sterile prepared sheep blood for use in hospitals and research institutions in blood agar culture plates.

 

  1. Pharmacy:
  • Selling and dispensing of veterinary drugs and chemicals.

 

  1. Medium conference hall:
  • Hired for medium and small institutional conferences and seminars.

 

  1. All the above facilities are available for use in animal and laboratory research subject to the departmental terms and conditions.
