2019 NOVEL CORONA VIRUS AND OTHER EMERGING INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Guest lecture on Corona Virus (COVID-19) and other Emerging Infectious Diseases was delivered to the 4th and 5th year veterinary students and staff on March 12, 2020 from 8.00-10.00 am in the Department of Clinical Studies. The guest lecturers were Dr. Andrew Thaiyah who is the USAID Global Health Security Advisor, Kenya; and Dr. J. M. Kamau of Department of Biochemistry, University of Nairobi and who has a lot of experience in molecular research. Dr Wanjohi of Africa One Health Universities Network (AFROHUN)-the former OHCEA, also introduced to the students and staff the current objectives of AFROHUN. The lecture was very enlightening especially on corona virus infections and how to avoid them just by simple but meticulous hand hygiene and extra caution.
