GUEST LECTURE BY DR.WAMAE OF FARMERS CHOICE.

On April 2nd, 2026, the Department of Clinical Studieshad the honor of hosting Dr. Geofrey Wamai from Farmer’s Choice Limited as a guest lecturer. The session was attended by 4th and 5th Year Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine students, who benefited from Dr. Wamai’s expertise in the field of pig production and management.
The lecture, titled “Enhancing the Breeding Performance of Pigs”, focused on practical strategies to improve productivity, animal welfare, and sustainability in pig farming. Dr. Wamai highlighted key areas such as Nutrition, Breeding and Genetics:
Students engaged actively in discussions, asking questions about real-world challenges in pig farming and exploring how veterinary professionals can contribute to advancing livestock production in Kenya. This guest lecture provided students with invaluable industry insights, bridging academic knowledge with practical applications. It reinforced the importance of veterinarians in supporting food security, animal welfare, and the agricultural economy.
