Dr. J.Wafula Aleri’, a lecturer at the Department of Clinical Studies has been named this year’s winner of the Gustav Rosenberger Young scientist Cattle award. The Gustav Rosenberger Memorial Fund (GRMF) is an international award in tribute to Dr Gustav Rosenberger and is related to the World Association for Buiatrics. The award was initiated, with the objective to ‘further improve bovine medicine at an international level and to stimulate bovine research in its broadest sense’. To realize that objective, bovine scientists have been awarded by grants and prizes, mainly being young scientists.

Intercontinental University Games Officially Kicks Off
The 7th All Africa University Games kicked off today at the University of Nairobi (UoN) Sports Grounds with 13 countries from different parts of Africa and 500 athletes participating. The games to be competed in include soccer, karate, netball, swimming, table tennis, track and field events, American football, and volleyball.
Officiating the official opening of the games, FASU President, Dr. Ralethe Malumbete, said that the objectives of the games were to promote sports, provide networking opportunities and promote cooperation amongst universities. The athletes would also be accorded with opportunities to compete at inter-university world games.
