BVDV in a dairy herd in Kiambu district

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to estimate the frequency of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea virus in dairy cattle in Central province, Kenya. Of the 49 samples collected, 45.65% were positive for antibodies to BVDV. All ages of cattle were affected but the frequency was highest in cattle 1-5 years old. The prevalence was also higher in females than males. The results of theis study revealed that there is BVD in cattle in Central province Kenya.
