The summer program offers one of the most unique experiences in a Veterinarians career. It deepens one’s understanding of one health concept and instills a motivation to pursue future research in an interdisciplinary approach.
The participants in this year’s activities were drawn from various institutions of higher learning: Mississippi State University, Makerere University, University of Rwanda, University of Nairobi, Sokoine University of Agriculture and Mekelle University. Additionally, the participants are from different areas of specialization; veterinary surgeons, laboratory scientists and public health professionals. Experiential learning approach was adopted as a quote by Confucius 450 BC ‘Tell me I will forget, show me I may remember, Involve me and I will understand’.
The program structure was in form of class lectures for 2 days, 9 days of eastern route study trip, 7 days western route study trip, 2 days cultural boma and final 2 days in international scientific conference.
