Animal Welfare Researchers Recognised

Congratulations to Professor Andrew Fisher and PhD Candidate Dr Josh Aleri who have had their research in the field of Animal Welfare recognised at the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists Awards.

Prof. Andrew Fisher was awarded the ‘David Bayvel Memorial Award’ for Excellence in Animal Welfare’. The award is sponsored by World Animal Protection, and is presented to an individual whose work has benefited the welfare of animals through education, research, policy, or extension. Andrew is pictured receiving his award from Peter Thornber.

Animal Welfare Science Centre PhD student Josh Aleri was awarded membership of the College. Josh’s membership is in veterinary epidemiology. He is using epidemiological approaches to study and improve the welfare of dairy cows. Josh received his award from Assoc Professor Caroline Mansfield, President of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.
